On the afternoon of 16/8/2017 in Hanoi, the training session "For the health - happiness of yourself and the community" was organized by the Hospital of Posts and Telecommunications in cooperation with VNPT Media Corporation (VNPT-Media). At the training session, Dr. Tran Hung Manh - Deputy Director - Head of the Emergency Department, Dr. Vu Dinh Huy - Head of Internal Medicine and Dr. Duong Vuong Trung - Deputy Dean of Resuscitation Emergency from the Hospital of Posts and Telecommunications had directly communicated the basic knowledge about common emergency ambulance and how to give first aid in circulatory arrest cases for staffs of VNPT Media Corporation.

Being one of VNPT-Media’s staff members who had come to the training hall very early, Tran Thi Minh Tram - HR staff was very eager to attend the training. She said that she had actively registered to participate in the training when the training schedule and content was announced by the corporation’s leaders. According to Ms. Tram, this was an opportunity for her to have access to useful health information and how to prevent and deal with situations related to health in daily life, and help her family and the community as needed. The acquisition of basic knowledge of emergency, especially emergency procedures for circulatory arrest is very useful and practical to her.

Not only learning theoretical knowledge, each staff of VNPT-Media was also instructed in detail how to do emergency procedures on a model of human body. The posture, position and operation of an ambulance man during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and pulmonary aspiration are very important.

Accident victims can be resuscitated if operated properly and timely, because according to doctors, cardiac arrest is the state when the heart stops working or works ineffective (it can not deliver blood to organs of the body, especially vital organs such as the brain, circulatory system, lungs, etc.). Circulatory arrest can occur suddenly on a perfectly healthy heart like in electric shock, drowning, anaphylactic shock, multiple injuries … But it can also be the end result of a terminal chronic disease like cancer, cirrhosis, heart failure, kidney failure ... Only after 4 minutes of circulatory arrest, there will be irreversible damages to the brain, and therefore, immediate emergency treatment is critical.

Ms. Tram is very pleased with the content given by Dr. Tran Hung Manh at the training session. "In emergency treatment for circulatory arrest, it is important to follow the emergency order and use correct techniques," she talked about the sad story of her family emotionally. 10 years ago, she had lost one of her relative because she and her family lack basic knowledge on circulatory arrest and didn’t know how to perform first-aid timely.

Therefore, after this training, Ms. Tram will advise the Labor Union unit of her Department to make copies of information on basic first aid to those who had not been able to participate in the training. One more person with emergency medical knowledge, one more chance of surviving for the victim of an unfortunate accident or person whose illness unexpectedly leads to circulatory arrest.

In addition to the theory and practice of first-aid for circulatory arrest, the trainers also imparted basic knowledge and initial treatment methods for common conditions and accidents in life such as drowning, electric shock, suffocation, heat stroke, hot drunk and especially the initial management, safe transportation of specific traumatic events such as spinal injuries, limb injuries, thoracic injuries, bleeding wounds. This important training had helped the participants get the proper skills and attitudes to perform initial first-aid while waiting for professional intervention.

Speaking at the training, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union of VNPT- Media had thanked the board and staffs of the hospital who have spent their time in organizing the training course on basic knowledge of emergency medical treatment for the staff of the corporation. This is a very meaningful activity that meets the needs and wishes to improve knowledge and equip more useful skills to the people in the community today.

Leaders of VNPT Media Corporation wish that besides improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, satisfying the patients' satisfaction, the hospital continues to interest and support the units in the VNPT Group to organize more useful training sessions, so that all VNPT-ers have adequate knowledge and skills in health care and know how to preserve health for themselves and for the community.

As planned, in August and September, the Hospital of Posts and Telecommunications will continue to coordinate with units under the VNPT Group and other units in the industry to hold 6 more training sessions on basic emergency first-aid and circulatory arrest first-aid. Along with theoretical knowledge about basic emergency medical treatment, circulatory arrest, the practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and pulmonary aspiration on a human body model will equip the basic techniques of circulatory arrest first-aid for staff in the posts and telecommunications industry.

With these necessary knowledge and skills, in each situation, postal and telecommunication workers and employees can help patients in a timely manner, minimizing unfortunate consequences.
