On 18/8/2017 in Thanh Hoa, The Seminar  "Protecting Television Content on the Internet in Vietnam -Determination and Solution " was organized by the Vietnam Television Association in coordination with Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) to provide solutions to minimize the situation of copyright infringement of television content on the Internet in Vietnam. At this seminar, as the representative of VNPT Group, VNPT-Media made a meaningful speech on the topic of "Cooperation to build content ecosystem on Internet in Vietnam and Smart Media Platform".

Content and digital service providers in Vietnam are now facing many challenges:

On the customers’ side, they want to enjoy their favorite content in any format, at any time and on any device with the best quality and reasonable prices. On the content producers’ side, stemming from that demand of customers, a trend of self-produced, self-editing content has emerged. This spontaneity has made the provision of digital content and services lack the linkage between the parties in the overall problem in Vietnam.

In addition, the popularity of cross-border OTT content delivery applications, the development of global service ecosystems, and, in particular, the widespread piracy situation have been real challenges for digital content and service providers in Vietnam. These challenges have made Vietnam still the country that ARPU brought from digital content and services is rated to belong to Asia's lowest group.

Facing with this situation, aiming at protecting the interests of content providers, network operators and customers, combining the existing advantages of telecom service providers, VNPT has proposed the idea of cooperation on building a television content ecosystem on the Internet in Vietnam on Smart Media Platform. The structure of Smart Media Platform will consist of 5 classes: i. Core Technology Layer (SMP Core), ii. Integrated Technology Layer (SMP Technology), iii. Class library API, libs, iv. Application Integration Layer (SMP Enabler Application), v. Content communication layer (SMP Interface).  Implementing Smart Media Platform is not only effective for businesses that provide digital content and services, but also for the benefit of operators. In fact, Smart Media Platform is based on both the characteristics and advantages of network providers such as quality of service (voice, data, VAS,..) strength of infrastructure, identical equipment on internet and telecommunication networks; customers’ convenience when payment channels are connected easily and quickly; CSP, CRM, CEM or BPM tools ,... combined with Big Data, IoT, AI ... to help customers become the center of services.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tan - Deputy General Director of VNPT Media Corporation (directly under VNPT), the benefit that Smart Media Platform brings is to avoid wasting national resources and businesses’ resources when infrastructure is concentrated. Smart Media Platform will create a service ecosystem, shared utility and centralized payment gateway with guaranteed technical foundation. Smart Media Platform also helps to control the copyright of domestic and foreign content products. This will also be a solution contributing to improve the efficiency of state management as well as service quality, serving the interests of consumers.
