Vietnam Talent Awards 2017’s press conference was held at the headquarters of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on May 30^th. The awards continue to search, discover and honour talents in the areas of Information Technology, Science Technology, Medicine, Environment, and Extension. "Innovative Technology - Smart Connectivity" is chosen as the principal theme in a bid to promote the fourth industrial revolution and creative start-up.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 as central theme 

Estimates suggest there will be 50 billion wireless devices connected worldwide. This figure will continue to increase to 500 billion by 2030, with more than 25 million applications; over 25 billion intelligent systems and embedded systems; 50 trillion Gigabytes of data; and a tenfold increase in the number of IoT-connected devices. With the achievements so far, IoT is expected to create a new economic boom in near future.

In addition, the start-up movement, especially in the field of information technology has achieved robust growth in Vietnam, gaining recognition from the leaders of the Party, State, Ministries, Industry sectors as well as the community. The start-up trend is one of the driving forces behind the development of innovative technological products that meet the society’s demands. 

Therefore, the Organizing Committee has decided to choose "CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY - SMART CONNECTIVITY" as the guiding theme this year in order to shift the focus onto the fourth industrial revolution and start-up creative industries.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNPT’s board member Do Vu Anh stressed that as a leading telecoms group of the country, VNPT is not only the spearhead in the development of new technology to improve quality of lives but also keen on talent encouragement activities, accompanying the talents of the country to contribute to the development of Vietnam IT - Telecom Technology in the age of the fourth revolution.

These activities are considered as two developmental trends that not only meet the actual requirements of the current tech products and the technological advances of the times but also closely follow the guidance of the Party and State on the current development of science and technology, attracting the creativity and discovery of participants.

According to the Organizing Committee of the awards, this year’s theme Vietnam Talent 2017 will encourage IT products that apply new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data to create Smart application products that serve different aspects of life. The awards also aim at attracting products from the rapidly evolving industrialization movement.

VNPT to accompany the success of the awards

The success of Vietnam Talent Awards 2017 is not only thanks to the unceasing innovation of the organizers, the valuable contribution of the professors and leading scientists in the field of information technology, medicine, science, and environment but also the donation of sponsors who continue to support the event. New features in IT Awards categories

A large number of changes took place in Vietnam Talent Awards categories this year. The three major product categories have demonstrated innovations compared to previous years, now includes: (i) Potential IT products; (ii) Start-up IT Products; and (iii) Mobile and Connected IT Products. Specifically, Potential IT products – the most popular category - will cover successful potential products category. Start-up IT Product will replace last year's Successful IT Product. Mobile IT Products – a category often attracts young competitors - will include Connected IT products to match this year’s theme as well as to meet the growing trend of world technology.

Through the press conference, the Organizing Committee calls on all citizens, students, talented people to join Vietnam Talent Awards 2017 so as to promote creative products and apply them in practice to enhance the quality of life.

Winner of each category will receive a prize of 100 million, the second prize worth 50 million, the third prize worth 30 million VND and other donor rewards.

 

Entries are opened until the end of Sep 30th, 2017; grading process will follow up, starting from Oct 1st to Nov 15th, 2017. The award ceremony will be held in Hanoi on Nov 16th, 2017 and broadcasted live on Vietnam Television. Registration to participate in the IT category will be closed by the end of Sept 30th, 2017.
