17:04, 06/01/2017In 2016, VNPT-Media has not only exceeded its business targets, but also completed many platforms for VNPT Group and mastered core technologies to develop value-added services (VAS), which were previously produced in cooperation with other companies or by outsourcing from foreign markets with high costs.
Exceeding business targets in 2016
In 2016, besides internal challenges related to the new organization structure and business mechanism, VNPT-Media also faced many obstacles from the market, including the fierce competition of pay TV market, the rapid domination of global OTT television apps in Vietnam, the popularity of smart box, smart TV and the aching issue of copy rights, etc.
However, the company has made great effort and successfully exceeded its business targets in 2016. The total revenue of 2016 was VND 1,434 billion, up by 3% compared to the proposed plan. Revenue from MyTV, VAS and Media services were VND527 billion, VND850 billion and VND34 billion respectively. Return on equity before tax was 17.7 per cent, and total profit was VND126 billion, accounting for 128 per cent and 120 per cent of the assigned targets correspondingly. The average labor productivity was more than VND2.6 billion/ person/ year.
Compared with other companies under VNPT, VNPT-Media’s business targets were above the Group’s average, particularly in terms of target revenues and return on equity before tax. Despite facing many challenges, the company was able to attain positive and encouraging outcomes after only one year of operation. For such achievements, the company was honored with the emulation flag of the Government in 2016.
Mastering core technologies for a proactive approach
As a leading company under VNPT in the field of VAS, VNPT-Media has introduced various services and applications on mobile networks in 2016, including CeeMe, Voice recording, Game portal, etc. and purchased the latest and hottest copyright songs in order to meet the demand of all mobile subscribers. Besides Vinaphone, VNPT-Media also provides services to other partners such as MobiFone (MediaTV), Viettel (Keeng), Vietnamobile, Gtel, etc, helping diversify the company’s client and revenue sources.
Member of VNPT Board Nguyen Manh Thang spoke highly of the efforts and achievements made by VNPT-Media.
Pioneering in the 4G trend, VNPT-Media’s R&D team has developed products that effectively exploit 4G infrastructure, namely real-time videos, optimal video compression technology, video & image processing technology, image recognition technology, etc. Recently, the company has introduced CeeMe, an app enables users to watch celebrities’ livestreaming.
IT and software services is another field that has gained successful results. School management software VnEdu is currently deployed in 12,000 schools nationwide, and the new upgrade version has resolved the problem of network congestion in examination periods, which is highly appreciated by school leaders and teachers. Moreover, VNPT-Media has fully developed a wide range of platforms for VNPT, including Tapping Gateway, SDP, USSD Gateway, LBS, VNPT Payment, VNPT Ads, VMP, RIMS, etc.
These platforms will allow VNPT-Media to master its technologies and be more proactive in deploying VAS, IT, television and media services to customers.
To build on its strength in the field of IT and to meet both internal and external demand, VNPT-Media established VNPT Media Software in October 2016. This company currently has 150 software engineers and is in charge of researching and developing service platforms for VNPT-Media as well as VNPT Group.
Another notable achievement in the field of IT is the completion of VAS Cloud, which is a unified ecosystem based on cloud computing for VNPT’s value-added services. In addition, the company has established a research team in Big Data to develop technologies such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning and to provide services like AdTech, FinTech, IoT, etc.
In 2017,VNPT-Media sets the goal of gaining VND 1,283 billion in revenue and VND 141 billion in profit before tax, which is 12% higher compared to the targets in 2016. Return on equity is expected to be 18 per cent, up by 2% compared to that of 2016, and MyTV service is hoped to maintain its 3rd position in the market. VNPT-Media will be launching Big Data services such as Credit Scoring, FinTech, Customer Segmentation, etc. in the first quarter of 2017. |
