More than 1.7 million accounts have been registered to use Mobile Money
Mobile Money service provides users with a user account
attached to a mobile subscription. These accounts are
similar to telecommunications accounts, but are allowed
to be used to transfer money and pay for legal services and goods in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Information and Communications said that after the first 6 months of the year, the number of mobile subscribers using the Mobile Money service up to now has increased by 4 times compared to January 2022 (the first month of implementation). with an average monthly growth rate of about 20%.
Previously, at the end of 2021, the State Bank of Vietnam had decided to approve a trial license of Mobile Money for major carriers in Vietnam such as VNPT, MobiFone and Viettel, making Vietnam officially become a country with a rich economy on Mobile Money payment platform.
The license to pilot Mobile Money service is considered an important step in perfecting the cashless payment market in Vietnam, especially in the implementation phase of the Cashless Payment Development Scheme. As of June 30, 2022, there are 1.7 million registered accounts to use Mobile Money, accounting for 97.3% of total customers registering and using the service. In which, the number of Mobile Money users in rural, mountainous, remote, border and island areas accounted for 67% of the total number of customers registering and using the service.
