In the morning of October 31, in Hanoi, the organization committee of Vietnam Talent Awards 2017 had officially announced the list of products reaching the final round of the information technology category. 17 excellent products had passed 289 products to enter the final round.

Vietnam Talent Awards 2017’s IT category focused on the theme "Creative Technology, Smart Connection", aiming at the 4th Industrial Revolution and creative start-ups. The awards had attracted many Vietnamese and foreign participants with creative and perfect products that had high practicality.

According to information from the organizer, this year, Vietnam Talent Awards’ IT category has a total of 289 products in various fields of application such as public administration, e-government, education, transportation, real estate, planning....

The Preliminary Jury Council for the Information Technology Category involved leading experts. Chairman of the Preliminary Jury Council is Mr. Nguyen Long - General Secretary of Vietnam Association for Information Technology. Through the pre-qualification process, the Preliminary Jury Council had selected 66 eligible products qualified for inclusion in the preliminary examination, including 23 potential products, 25 start-up products, 18 connecting/mobile products.

On October 29, the Preliminary Council conducted a working session and decided to select 17 best products for the final round.

Mr. Pham Huy Hoan, journalist, editor in Chief of Dan Tri Newspaper and Head of Organization Board of Vietnam Talent Award, said: "Over the past 12 years, the Awards’ prestige has been confirmed. This year the organization committee received nearly 300 contestant products from candidates across the country, including foreign candidates."

The head of the Organizing Committee also said:

"It can be said that in five areas of Vietnam Talent Awards, the IT category is always a most remarkable challenge for the judges to organize selection, examination and awarding.

Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, Deputy General Director of VNPT, said:  "Vietnam Talent Awards has reached the 13th year. The Awards had welcomed many candidates in the fields of innovative technology, smart connection with the purpose of connecting talents and encouraging the movement of start-ups in Vietnam".

Mr. Liem affirmed that, in recent years, Vietnam Talent Award had become a playground, a successful launching platform for talented people.  The Representative of VNPT also emphasized that, as the government had launched the start-up movement to follow the 4th industrial revolution, VNPT also had implemented many support activities for young startups in the past year, such as the "Starting a Vietnamese startup" program in three large cities to share the secret of successful startups, as well as the way to turn ideas into reality.

Evaluating contestant IT products this year, Mr. Nguyen Long - Chairman of the Preliminary Jury Council of Vietnam Talent Awards 2017, said that this year's awards could clearly see the desire and ambition of young authors with new ideas and technologies. The Preliminary Jury Council highly valued the quantity and quality of IT products in 2017.

With the award for startups opened for the first time, Mr. Long evaluated that many start-up products had started calling for investment and were in the process of attracting investment. However, according to Mr. Long, current startups had not really found the way but still only were in the idea stage and struggled with capital calling. "We looked forward to finding the difference in startup products. Having ideas without looking at the technology and resources to turn those ideas into competitive products will not create success," Mr. Long emphasized.

After announcing the list of products entered the final round of Vietnam Talent Award 2017, the Final Jury Council will conduct a survey on the quality and practical implementation of the products, the feasibility of the products in the final examination to have an objective view and evaluate the most authentic contestant products. On November 14th, the authors and author groups that enter the Final Round of the Information Technology Category will gather in Hanoi and present their products directly to the Jury Council.

Started by Vietnam Association for Promoting Education in 2005 and jointly organized by Dan Tri Newspaper and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), up to this moment, Vietnam Talent Awards has entered the 13th year, becoming a prestige prize at the national level.
