VNPT Family Safe Supports Monitoring Children in Cyberspace
The VNPT Family Safe service helps
parents monitor their children’s activities and manage their time online,
reducing risks in cyberspace.
Launched in 2023, VNPT Family Safe includes features such as blocking harmful content, managing devices and access time, and providing reports on family internet usage. This service serves as a method for guiding and shaping children’s safe internet usage, enabling parents to accompany their children as they navigate cyberspace. After a year since its launch, one of the most significant achievements of VNPT Family Safe has been changing the perspective of many Vietnamese parents—from prohibiting and closely monitoring their children’s internet use to accompanying and understanding their behaviors.
Ms. Hong Hanh, 32, from Hanoi, believes that prohibiting children from using the internet can lead to adverse reactions. “Parents’ guidance is crucial in shaping their children’s internet usage behavior, and VNPT Family Safe has helped me do that,” she said. Many users, like Ms. Hong Hanh, share the view that using VNPT Family Safe helps children develop healthy internet usage habits. Shaping these habits early not only equips children with the skills to avoid and identify inappropriate content online but also enhances their critical thinking and stimulates their overall development.
“Due to the nature of my job, I often travel for work, making it extremely difficult for me to instruct and monitor my children's internet usage. Using the VNPT network with the integrated VNPT Family Safe service allows me to easily manage all of my children's online activities with just one application,” said Thanh Duy, 51, a businessman.
A representative from VNPT stated that to properly guide children, parents need to equip themselves with essential knowledge and skills. Additionally, having a solid understanding of tools and solutions for protecting and monitoring internet access will provide a strong foundation to support parents in their journey to help their children establish safe and healthy internet usage habits. VNPT Family Safe is expected to become a powerful tool for parents in supporting their children’s growth in the digital space, protecting millions of Vietnamese families.
According to the Department of Children at the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, up to 91% of Vietnamese children use the internet, but only 10% know how to use it safely. This statistic is alarming, given that threats in cyberspace are always lurking and targeting children.
Because children often lack the skills and experience to identify online dangers, they can easily become immersed in the virtual world, leading to various consequences such as being lured into unethical acts, reduced social interaction, and being bullied online, all of which can negatively affect their academic performance and daily lives.
