VNPT deployed a support package to overcome the consequences of storm No3, valued at 50 billion VND
On September 12, 2024, in Hanoi, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) held a ceremony to launch a donation campaign aimed at supporting localities affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi). They also announced the support package worth 50 billion VND.
Faced with the immense damage caused by storm No3 in provinces from Quang Ninh to Hai Phong and now the significant floods in northern mountainous provinces, VNPT Group has decided to deploy a special support package for people and customers affected by the storms and floods totaling 50 billion VND. Of this amount, 25 billion VND is in kind contributed through VNPT employees' one day's salary each and from VNPT's Social Policy Fund. The remaining amount of 25 billion VND will be provided through VNPT services to support people in flooded areas.
With an aim for speediness, VNPT intends to deliver this support package within 10 days using practical forms of assistance that will help local people quickly stabilize their lives.
As a key enterprise providing telecommunications-IT infrastructure with nationwide network infrastructure, VNPT is also one of the enterprises that have suffered heavy damage from storms and floods. Despite this, they have mobilized their human resources entirely within areas affected by storms or flash floods/landslides so they can be on standby to respond swiftly when incidents occur.
During Typhoon Yagi's most challenging times, nearly all VNPT employees worked tirelessly to cope with the storm and floods. Thousands of other employees from provinces/cities were sent out as well so they could join hands in rescue efforts while restoring networks promptly to serve those impacted by natural disasters.
In places where telecommunication networks were severely damaged due Typhoon No3,VNPT shared its network with other telecommunication enterprises; almost half million mobile subscribers used the VinaPhone network for communication. Additionally, Hundreds of transaction points supported electricity provision for charging phones during peak hours every day until all customers were served.
VNPT has also quickly implemented a policy to support VinaPhone mobile packages and reduce fiber optic internet subscription fees to share difficulties with customers in 16 northern provinces/cities directly affected by storm No. 3 and flash floods/landslides. Up to now, more than 3.6 million VinaPhone subscribers have been supported with packages (including 100 minutes of domestic calls & 15Gb of Data) and nearly 600,000 fiber optic internet subscribers have been supported with subscription fees.
With the spirit of "overcoming storms and floods", VNPT Group has mobilized all possible resources, contributing both money and effort, as well as products and services that the Group is providing with the hope and belief that, with the solidarity of the whole country, people in flood-affected areas will soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
