MyTV: The 9-year journey of winning over customers' trust

As one of the first IPTV television services in Vietnam, while many competitors left the market, MyTV continues to be trusted and chosen by customers. After 9 years, MyTV is now Vietnam's third largest pay television service provider and largest IPTV service provider with over 1 million customers. In the context of the extremely competitive television market in Vietnam, what helped MyTV to grow and win customers?

In the context of the extremely competitive television market in Vietnam, what helped MyTV to grow and win customers? 

 

 

From the advantage in service coverage 

One of the weaknesses of IPTV television services compared other types of pay television services is that they required broadband infrastructure. Therefore, despite providing many useful features for television viewers such as rewinding, rewinding, recording for later view, locking programs unsuitable for children,... many IPTV service providers still have to face with difficulty in their development because they don't have widespread Internet infrastructure.

The broadband infrastructure reaching communes across the country is a great advantage for MyTV to conquer the market. While competitors can only serve a small subscriber market in urban areas, MyTV can provide service to customers all over the country. As a result, only in the first year of its launch, MyTV reached half a million subscribers - a remarkable number.

To enhance service quality for its customers, in 2014, VNPT started to transform its broadband network into optical fiber. Not only continuing to expand the coverage area, VNPT has completely replaced its cable network with super-fast optical cable network, significantly improving the transmission speed. This continued to be an advantage for MyTV, which attracted more than half a million subscribers and helps MyTV to retain its customers in the context of a competitive Pay-TV market.

To the introduction of new features 

Acknowledging that only good transmission quality is not enough, MyTV has embarked on research to bring more features and new gadgets for customers. In 2017, MyTV Net was launched as a television service for mobile users. MyTV also added the recommendation feature that allows users to select new, attractive and fast content quickly, easily. Most recently, MyTV has launched a new smooth multi-device compatible interface (MyTV 4.0) which allows minimal operation steps. 

With this new interface version, users only need to do 1-2 steps on the controller to get desired content.

MyTV 4.0 also has a built-in intelligent search feature. This feature is available in all service interfaces. Customers only need to type in the keywords they want to search and related content will show momentarily. The YouTube app feature is also included so that users can watch content on this this video sharing channel right on MyTV. 

With the development of technology, customers now have a lot of options to watch TV-on-demand, such as watching on Smart TVs. Using this method, customers can instantly see what they like without having to sign up for services. However, available content is not copyrighted and only in low image quality.

To meet customers' needs, MyTV 4.0 interface is multi-device compatible. With this new interface, customers can use MyTV service on Smart TVs of the most popular brands in the market such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Asanzo, .... 

These innovations quickly received positive feedback from users. 

And heavy investment in content 

With a total of over 200 channels, including 70 HD content channels, MyTV is currently leading the pay-television market in term of HD channels. MyTV is also one of the few services that still provide loved foreign television channels such as: HBO, Max by HBO, Fox Sports, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Fox Movies, Fox Life, Discovery Channel. . .. 

Understanding that the quality of content is the key to service growth, MyTV has been investing continuously to enrich its content collection. In recent years, MyTV has cooperated with many domestic and foreign partners to bring the hottest and latest movies to its customers, such as: Flavor of fog, Pink,  Leo Da Vinci - Treasure hunt,... Not only that, MyTV has also bought the rights to broadcast live sport tournaments such as World Cup 2018, U20, NBA Professional Basketball Tournament 2018, VBA Professional Basketball Tournament  2018 ... 

In particular, to show gratefulness to loyal customers who have been walking with MyTV for the last 9 years, since July 15, MyTV has been providing free all the PayTV services, including: Movies, Music, Karaoke, Sports... Previously, these services are available only for Gold and Gold HD subscribers.
